| "Poem's from Spirit" This story is to show others what God will do if you are obedient. Remember this word "Obedient." I've wanted to sing and write as long as I can remember. I wrote a little in my teen years. When I was young my mother would sing country music and gospel songs around the house. As far back as I can remember I was always a music lover. I was told, before I could walk or talk, Mom would turn on music on the radio, they would hold me up and my little legs would go with the music. As I got older I sang along with the country singers on the radio, with singers like Hank Williams Sr, The Chuckwagon Gang and singers on the Mid Day Merry Go Round on WNOX out of Knoxville, Tennessee. In the summer we would gather with neighbors and friends on the front porch. Mom would play the guitar and we would sing. It would be a mixture of gospel and country music. As I entered my teen years, Rock and Roll was the big thing; I wanted to be a Rock singer. At 16, I was given the opportunity to record a love song; I took the time to learn the song. It was a beautiful song, but I thought it would cramp my style, so I turned it down. Keep in mind, God had a plan for me. I was being molded along the way for bigger and better work for Him. Saturday, November 25, 2000: At 3:00am The Holy Spirit woke me from a sound sleep with the words "A Star Was Born." The Spirit told me to get up and write. I spent fifteen or twenty minutes telling the Spirit I did not have anything to write. When I finally obeyed the Spirit and got up and turned on my computer, the words began to flow. When I finished the Poem, I was told to write a poetry book. The first month the Spirit gave me seventy-five poems, sometimes as many as four a day. The spirit has given me over two hundred poems for the book. I'm still receiving poems. I have won several awards for my Poetry. Two Silver Bowls, a Silver Cup, Shakespearian Award, three Editors Choice Awards and two Bronze Medallions. I have been published in six poetry books, I have won awards in Gospel songwriting, Gospel singing, and several awards for my Gospel Albums. Music awards: 20 Tennessee Country Music Association, 13 North American Music Association International, 9 awards in poetry. My poetry has been published by Noble House of London, Paris and New York, The International Library of Poetry, American Poets and Famous Poets Society. Stay in Gods Care. Jack Hodge |
| World Peace World peace would be an easy task, if to our Father above we would ask For brotherly love to fill our hearts, down to our knees is the place to start. Ah, there is so much we all have on our table! It started long ago with Cain and Able. The greed that fills the hearts of each man, before it's late, we must take a stand. To bring together a world filled with peace. With brotherly love to all we must reach. A kind word, a helping hand to those in need. Most of all to wipe away lust, hate and greed. Just like in war, an army is needed here. Spreading through this world love and cheer. The blood that was shed on the cross long ago, won the battle so to Heaven we could all go. Now I am but a humble man with a plan. With simple words I give wherever I can. To show a life that fulfills and soothes within, and maybe help rid the world of war and sin. | A Star Was Born A star was born on Christmas Day, I have something you can't take away. Deep within this heart of mine, Jesus, a spirit, so true and kind. Yes, it's the star of Bethlehem, I know he's real, I can feel him. He rules my life day and night, I keep him close and never loose sight. Yes, my star is true and strong, Given his word, it can't be wrong Won't you accept my star today? All it takes is to knell and pray. You'll have a spirit living within, Guiding you through this world of sin. Yes, this star that's strong and true, He'll never leave or forsake you. Jesus is the star I'm talking about. He lives in my heart I have no doubt. And he is coming to take me home. On this earth, I will no more roam. Oh yes, the star of Bethlehem, My Lord, My Savior, I can depend. He walks by my side night and day, So you see, I'm going his way. | After A Family Death Things happen in a family when death occurs. Words are spoken over Loved ones worth. People change and become greedy you see. Changes take place, family ties cease to be. Words of a loved one has been harsh and unkind. Over money or property that's been left behind. Stop and think of the one that has been lost. What would they think of the words being tossed? Yes, I’ve seen it happen time and time again. Families torn apart because of the greed within. If they would step back and take a good look, It’s really not worth the love that it took. | Across the Years As I think back in time A special place, a special time I had knelt to pray, Forgiveness I wanted on this day. Jesus was there, He took my hand, Gave me peace on command And the spirit moved in, Wiped away all my sins. I will never forget my Christ. Through the years He’s been by my side. He gives me peace without end. And wiped away all my sins. I know my Christ is here to stay As I talk to him each day, He gives me words as I write. With my Savior I’ll never loose sight. | Beulah Land Is Waiting As I sit here today with pin in hand, I am dreaming of sweet Beulah Land. We have sang this song for so long And it keeps our faith true and strong. Yes, this is the place we want to be And we know the road to be set free. Jesus paid the price for you and me When He hung on that old rugged tree. Yes, there are some lagging far behind. Come on friend don’t you be blind. There is a place waiting for you And Jesus Love is sweet and true. Don’t let Satan lead you astray. Because Jesus’ love is here to stay. Listen to His word, Yes today. For it is time for us to obey. Yes, Beulah Land is waiting for us. All we have to do is give Jesus our trust. He is coming to take us home And I’m sure it won’t be long. The signs of the time tell us so The preachers are preaching where we will go. So my friend stay on track And never, never stop or look back. June 19, 2000 Jack Hodge |
| ChristMas Rising Star Award (Holiday Song Of The Year with TCMA) The snow is falling and the lights are bright. My mind drifts back to a place and time. Where Christ lay asleep on a bed of hay. My savior was born on Christmas day It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas! have we lost sight Of what we were given on that night! A Savior. A King, The one from on High. Who came to this earth and layed down His life. When the snow is falling and the tree is all trimed; We should never stray from the Love of Him. Just remember as He lay on the hay, He knew He would hang on a cross some day. As we are shopping and buying our gifts. Talking with Family, or planning a trip. The Babe in the manger on this earth He did roam. He died for our sins. He’s now on the thrown. So don’t loose sight of what Jesus did for you. Keep Him in your hearts, strong and true. He’ll be on your mind soft as a whisper. So please, don’t take Christ out of Christmas! Written By Hodge October 28, 2000 In Gods Care |
| Daily Prayer Take the time to pray for the sins of the day. For guidance of his hand, and presence to stay. To give you strength when things go wrong. To resist the evils that are pulling you strong. For those that are trapped at Satins hand And will never know Gods Promise Land. To feed the hungry, warm the cold and old And you may spread the greatest story ever told. Thank Him for life and the roof over your head, For the food you eat and a safe warm bed. For your Sons and Daughters, they know the way. In His loving arms safe and will never stray. A Church to worship Him, free, safe and secure. But , most of all , His son Jesus, He sent here. | Blessings The blessings of our Lord and Savior Are they not great? The blessings of our Holy Spirit Thank God he’s never late. | Deep Within As I wonder of a place and time, where we will be together in spirit and mind. We will walk on streets of Gold, And we will never, ever grow old. We will spend time with the Master, our King. The one who has given to us every thing? There with grandpa, grandma, mom and dad. With arms stretched out I have no doubt. Yes, there stands Jesus, He’s been waiting for you. He’s been watching for us to come home. So all will gather around Gods thrown. A-Ah This feeling I get within! Thinking of the time I’ll spend with him. He’s my Lord ,My Savior, My Friend. On him I can always depend. He walks by my side night and day, All I have to do is kneel and pray. So take these words I give to you; to your Jesus be faithful and true. I hope to see you in Heaven some day. All it takes is to kneel and pray. Jack Hodge December 5, 2000 |
| Grandmaws House On a Sunday after church to grandmaws we would go. We knew something would be cooking on the stove. Sunday at Grandmaw’s we all looked forward to. To sneak a peak in the pots was the thing to do. Chicken and dumplings, yams and corn on the cob. Of course, fried chicken for me, George, Ron, Bill and Brother Bob. There was homemade chocolate cake and a pie or two. It’s hard for me to wait I don’t know about you. So to the wormer above that old cook stove I’d peek And a biscuit and bacon from breakfast I’d eat. Yes, I would get yelled at as many times before. I would take off running and go out the back door, As we look back to the day’s of old remembering the stories that could be told. All of the memories would fill a book From my Grandmaws Loving nook. | Finding Peace Within As a child we run and play, Giving no thought of the day. But as the years disappear Our youth is gone we are here. We must try to do our best, As we will be put to the test. In our Jobs, in our homes, in a world to do our best. Now that we have a plan, To do the very best we can. To have a happy family, They are all counting on me. I’ll struggle with this life, Never look back, never looks twice. So my friend I hope you can see, What God has given you and me! A place to go where there’s no sin. There we will find peace within. | In The Night The pot of soup simmering on the stove. The aroma filtering throughout the home. The wind is blowing the snow all about. I’m snuggled by the fire with a book no doubt. As the wind whispers through the night. This story I’m reading gives me a freight! I snuggle deeper and deeper into my chair And I wonder could someone be out there? The lights are flickering and I’m home alone. Now I am wishing with the others I’d gone! Heavy foot steps I hear approaching the door And now I’m slowly sinking to the floor. The door flies open and what do I see? It’s Mom and Dad come to visit me! I’m so embarrassed to think I was scared And if you read this you’ll be just as weird. Jack Hodge December 26, 2000 |
| Kneel And Pray Oh the tears of joy I feel, As I see you come to kneel. You have put a smile on my face, for you have filled an empty space. You must pray to save your soul, you know Jesus can make you whole. Listen to the stories that's told. more grace and peace than you can hold. In the presence of our Lord, great and special is your reward. So my friend just kneel and pray, Christ love is here to stay. On his word we can depend, He’s not just your Lord but he’s your friend. Accept His love it will make you strong. Working for Christ you’ll never go wrong. Oh, my God is kind and true. He has been waiting just for you. As you come to kneel and pray Christ will wash your sins away. Jack Hodge In God’s Care August 11,2000 |
| Helping Hand See that beggar on the street, He has no shoes on his feet. He needs a helping hand. See the child that’s abused; don’t know where to go or what to do. He needs a helping hand. See the young girl on the corner, someone needs to warn her. She needs a helping hand. See the youth with drugs in hand, Its gotten bad in this land. They need a helping hand See the Baby that's unborn, God has forewarned. It needs a helping hand. The homeless, the sick, the old on there own. They need a helping hand. All of those that’s not been saved before they enter the grave. They need a helping hand. There is always someone in need, So don’t make him or her plead For a helping hand Now it is time, We know what to do, Just follow the golden rule And lend a helping hand Jack Hodge December 15, 2000 In God’s Care |
| I Feel Used Dear Jesus, I don’t know where to start. A misunderstanding has pierced my heart. Something that was said I must have took wrong And now Satan is telling me not to go on. Satan is working and trying so hard to get in. He thinks he can pull me back to his life of sin. I’ve worked hard with the tools you’ve given me In Satins chains I never again want to be. I know now I may feel down and used And feel betrayed by a friend this is true. Now I will turn to your guiding hand. Take me where you want me across this land. You are the Potter, I am the clay. In your arms is where I want to stay. Now Satan you just get thee behind. For I’m with my Jesus, You have no time. Jack Hodge 2/13/2001 In God’s Care |
| I’ve Changed I’ve changed. Thanks to my Savior and Lord. It all happened on the highway one day. I was listening to Gods music, And began to pray. I thought of the way I had lived my life. I had lost my children, I had lost my wife. I had lost my business, I had lost my home. Struggling through life, restless and alone. The voice of Jesus said come on in. I can give you peace that will never end. I took his hand, I started walking his way. He’s given me strength. Now here is where I want to stay. So you see, I’ve changed from the life I had. I’ll never go back, my life was so bad. The Devil still works. He trys his best. But with Jesus by my side I can stand the test. My Jesus, my King, that sits on the Throne. He’s always with me, I’m never alone. He walks by my side night and day. From my Jesus’ side I will never stray. Whether talking ,or singing a song He is always there to make me strong. He gives words to write on this page. Even now in my old age. Now I’m happy. I Have a new life. I have my children. I have a new wife. She makes me happy. I have a new home. Most of all, I have Jesus, my King on the throne. Written By Jack Hodge Dec. 8,2000 In God’s Care |
| Jesus is Waiting What is this were waiting for? Jesus has already opened the door. So my friend keep pressing on . Keep your faith true and strong. Yes to Jesus our soul belongs And we know right from wrong. What can I do to make you see Jesus gave His all to set you free. To keep you from a place called hell When He was hung with just three nails. They cursed him and spit in his face. Made Him carry His cross to that awful place. They placed a crown of thorns on His head And hung Him on the cross until He was dead. What was this, He had done no wrong. I’ll tell you now, this place he did not belong. This is our savior we are talking about There is no greater love, I have no doubt. Oh my friend can you see His face? Can you feel His Love and strong embrace? He’s waiting for you to join His band. So reach out and take His hand. He will lead you through this trouble land. He’s waiting for you to take a stand. So on your knees you must pray. Ask forgiveness on this day. Now Gods Love is here to stay. Jack Hodge June 19 2000 |
| Jesus Gives The poems I write about Jesus my King; He’s the one that has given me everything. Yes, my Jesus on Him you can depend. Just call his name, He’ll be your friend. He will give you peace and joy within. And a Love that will never, ever end He gives the gift of all that’s true. Most of all He gave His life for me and you. | My Friend Yes my friend I’m speaking to you. Once you were loyal, faithful and true. But It seems things have changed Since I no longer do, say, or act the same. But my friend you see , the Lord got hold of me. Now this is where I want to be. You should join me today. All it takes is to kneel and pray. Yes, my friend I think of you And yes, I wonder whets became of you. Are you well? Have you been saved? I think of the life that we led And a tear I did shed. I’m hoping to see you again some day. In Heaven I hope, I do Pray. Yes the past is dead and gone. Now I am strong. I hope you take stock of your life And your future is bright. You may not want to hear this, and give to me a hiss. If your life is not straight and true, you may feel somewhat blue. On Jesus you can depend. He’ll be your friend to the end. In God’s Care your Friend Jack December,13 2000 |
| Life The things we do and say as we go through life. Sometimes we don’t understand things not right. We’re all safe, secure , with the life we’ve planned. When they’re others trying to do the best they can . Bow your heads a few minutes out of your day. Take the time for the misfortunate, stop to pray. At times we get busy with things of our own, we forget about the ones left homeless and alone. As you think of life and the things you’ve done, think about the souls you could have won. An obligation we have, written in the Book. Read through the pages, just take a look. Take time for your brother, the Book tells us so. The beggar on the street, the sick or the old. The beggar on the street he’s hungry and cold and we need to visit the sick and the old. As I bring this poem to an end my friend, speaking of a world filled with lies and sin. Remember the one that came from on high. He hung on a cross to give you, This Life. Jack Hodge December 21, 2000 In God’s Care |
| New Years Eve Christmas is over we start planning again. To bring in the New Year with family and friends. Maybe a dinner party with guest we invite Or a quiet evening for two would be alright. Whatever is planned to bring in the new year, include the one who died for you to be here. Whatever we do, wherever we go, this night keep Jesus in our hearts and all will be right. Just take the time to bow your head my friend. To give thanks to see another year at its end. Making those safe we Love so dear. And to help us all through another year. Amen Written By Jack Hodge 12 26, 2000 |
| Patience Patience my friend, in all that you do. Just remember to thine own self be true. There are times we feel we just can’t cope. With family, friends, our job, there’s hope. Remember, the one up above can wrap you in his arms of love. Take his strength, it’s all you need. In a world filled with so much greed. Take the Patience you will receive. Use it toward those in need. And with the Patience you hand out it will rub off , I have no doubt. Written By - Jack Hodge In God’s care Dec. 20, 2000 |
| New Years Well another year today has come and gone. A New Years wish to be well and strong. A family that is filled with Gods love inside. In our Lord and Savior we’ll all take pride. The time today spent with family and friends To bring another year to a close and end. Let us all remember two thousand years ago. Our Savior was sent here to save our souls. We are so lucky to have Gods own Son. Who gave up his thrown and now we are one. I thank you dear Lord for the love you gave. So all that will accept your grace can be saved By Jack Hodge In God’s Care December 31,2000 |
| Secrets As we search on this earth here below, never knowing where to go Yes, we are going here and there. Trying to show everyone we care. But the secrets we hide inside rush through like the tide. Oh the secrets we hide within. They haunt on and on and never end. Yes, I know there will be a time We will no more be blind or go back to that place or time. Because the past we’ve left behind. Oh yes! I know its true. Jesus died for me and you. Take the words I give to you . For my friend it is true. When we are placed in the ground We’ll be forgotten until the next time around. Jack Hodge Dec. 7, 2000 |
| Special Moments The special moments that we share, There’s really nothing to compare. The special time we spend alone, Makes our love true and strong. Your warm smile, your gentle touch. Yes, you should know they mean so much. The way your lips tip when you smile. The twinkle in your eyes so bright, Oh my, my, what a sight! The fragrance of you stays on my mind long after we have untwined. My Love for you that is deep within will stay forever , will never end I Love You Jack |
| Satan's Future When Satan reminds me of my past I give to him his future In a huge blast. He will try and try to bring us down Over the past, but a new life we’ve found. He is in a hurry to pull us back to his den. His time is running out, he knows he can’t win. Gods army is on a roll, out to win more souls. Satins time is short and this much he knows. Now he knows the power of our Lord, our King. The blood that was applied in his ears still rings. Satan is scared, he’s starting to run, no more fun. Because down to earth was sent Gods only son. When Satan reminds you of your past, apply the blood that will last and last. He’s lost, it’s over, we know what he’s about. Satans future has been all planned out. | Something In Red Oh its something in red I’m thinking about. It’s my Lord, my Savior, I have no doubt. He hung on the cross to save us one day. I’ll walk by His side or kneel and pray. Yes, this Something In Red is you see. He’s coming back one day for you and me. He had a plan when He walked on this Earth. Now it’s up to us to give Him His worth. You can’t go wrong with our King on the Thrown. Keep Him in your heart . He is true and strong. He hung on the Cross, suffered and died. He was Something In Red, and now he’s alive. Now He is waiting for His father above. To tell Him, Son, go bring back the ones you love. So my friend it’s up to you, As the things you say and do. You have a choice of what lies ahead. But my Jesus will never again be Something In Red. Written By Jack Hodge December 8, 2000 |
