"A 9 year old Boy's Message to Our
Troops"
As I, Jack Hodge, was searching for an article that was in the
Mountain Press Newspaper, in the Good New section, I ran across
this article written by a 9 year old boy that I thought would be of
interest to a lot or our visitors to the Operation Military Parents web
site.  This is a very heartfelt letter from this young man.
Mountain Press, Sevierville, Tennessee; Monday, November 17, 2003

Dear Soldier,

I can't imagine what it is like in Iraq.  My Mom and teacher have tried
to explain the war to me and I think I understand why you would risk
your life for me.  I watched parts of the war on TV, but it made me
sad.  My Mom would cry sometimes when she saw the prisoners of
war and heard about the people who died.  She said she knew it was
somebody's Mom, Dad, Son or Daughter and couldn't dream of how
their families must feel.

At church, our preacher prays for you, and at home my family and I
pray.  My R.A. Class at church is collecting food for the Iraqi people.
Tomorrow night our parents are going to cook us a meal like their
children would have, it doesn't look very good.  I feel sorry for the
children I see on TV.

My Mom is a teacher in Boaz, Ala., and her school has been
collecting money to buy phone cards with.  They are sending the
phone cards to you soldiers so you can call your families.  I hope
you receive one.  If my Dad were gone away I would want to talk to
him.  I love my Daddy and would miss him very much.  I hope you
get to come home soon and see your family.  Thank you so much for
fighting for our country.  We are so proud of you.  I think about the
soldiers every day when my class says the Pledge of Allegiance,
because that's what we are fighting for, the U.S.A..

God Bless You.
