"The Brave American Soldier"
Lyrics

(Verse 1)
The Brave American Soldier goes off to war
Struggles through hell while the Eagle soars
He protects his country wherever he goes
Even when tortured or watching blood flow
(Chorus)
The Brave American Soldier is tops
Some call him Brother, Son, Friend or Pops
The Brave American Soldier never rests
As he wears the uniform or the best
The Brave American Soldier takes a stand
To go forward for his flag and homeland
(Verse 2)
This soldier pushes through the heat, dust and sand
Aware our lives and freedoms rest in his hands
Although he may feel tired, dirty and alone
Let him know he can count on our prayers at home
(Recitation)
As we sit here safe and secure in our home
I'm sure you are frightened and feel alone
God is your friend, reach out and take his hand
He will keep you safe in this foreign land
( Repeat Chorus)
The Brave American Soldier is tops
Some call him Brother, Son, Friend or Pops
The Brave American Soldier is modest
And wears the uniform of the best
The Brave American Soldier takes a stand
To go forward for his flag and homeland
(Tag)
The Brave American Soldier goes off to war
Struggles through hell while the eagle soars
The Brave American Soldier goes off to war.......(fade)

The Birth of a Song
By Jack Hodge
" The Brave American Soldier"

It all started when my good friend and Gospel singer Evelyn Conner
contacted me for some cooking recipes for a cookbook.  I was a chef
up until I retired.  This cookbook was being put together by the
Operation Military Parents Organization.  The profits from this
cookbook would help supply needs for our service personnel in Iraq.
Operation Military Parents raises money by having all kinds of
functions like singings, bake sales, and so on; to send needed supplies
to our military personnel.  I got together about twenty recipes to
send.  As I'm a poet, I decided to write a special poem for our troops.
The American Soldier.  Operation Military Parents adopted the poem
as their theme poem.  It is going in the cookbook and is on the front
page of the web site: www.OperationMilitaryParents.com.  I thought,
what an honor to go in the cookbook, then to have my poem as the
theme poem.

But wait......I was in for a bigger surprise.  The CEO and Founder of
Operation Military Parents, Susan Beckner, contacted me.  Susan
asked if I could turn the poem into a song.

My good friend, Rhonnie Sheuerman, with RhonBob Promotions came
to mind as Rhonnie has written many number one songs including
patriotic songs.  Rhonnie and I went back and forth only twice and
"the song was born."  The next step was the Composer for the song.
I called Bob Scott Frick, Mr. Gospel Guitar, with Frick Music Publishing
Company in Madison, Tennessee and explained what we were doing.
Bob said send the words and I will see what I can do.  Bob wasted no
time, I had the music in my hand in two weeks.  Bob had come up with
a great tune, got his band together and made me a track.  Band
Members: Guitarist, Electric Organ and Trumpet - Bob Scott Frick.
Bass - Shawn Frick. And on Drums - Scott Frick.

I began to practice the song, soon I was ready to record.

I contacted my good friend Gary McVay, Music Director for Smokey
Mountain Jubilee Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for over twenty
years, Owner and CEO of Gloryland Recording Studio in Pigeon Forge
Tennessee.  I proceeded to explain what I was doing with "The Brave
American Soldier."  We got together on a time for me to co to the
studio and record.  God is so good, one practice and one take.  Gary
mixed the recording and burnt me two master copies.

"The Brave American Soldier" has been sent to:
Western Heart Promotions (WHP)
Ready Records
Circuit Rider Records

The song will go on a compilation and be sent to about 6,000 radio
stations.
